Headliner of Copenhagen Photo Festival 2024, Mafalda Rakos is acclaimed for her cross-disciplinary approach that incorporates elements of cultural social anthropology, art therapy and storytelling, connected to her presented photographic work.
She invites the attendees on a journey of self-reflection on mental health, their notion of entanglement and the dialogical process inscribed into taking another person's portrait.
During Mafalda Rakos' workshop, participants will print their personal portraits and express their feelings and thoughts related to the topics of her project. Attendants will improve their awareness about facing delicate thematics and how to establish confidence between the photographer and the subject. Participants will come back home with their personal work of art.
Later that day, during our Photo Scene event, participants can also join the book's launch of Mafalda Rakos. During her presentation, the artist's mother Anna Rakos will join the scene. She is a psychotherapist and contributor to one of the texts in the book. They'll explore together how this project could resemble a therapeutic process, and discuss the importance of keeping the roles of artist - therapist strictly linked between them. Immediately following the talk, Mafalda will be available to sign books in her exhibition space, where there will be the opportunity to continue the conversation and celebrate her book launch.
