She is in her early 30s living the city life. Cute boyfriend, nice apartment, new baby. It's all going well. But it's all turned upside down when her boyfriend tells her he's got a job as a teacher at a high school in Velling!
A small town on the west coast of Jutland, where the grass is horizontal in the wind, where sentences are few and short. How will she, with her great love of words, function in that society? Because what do West Jutlanders actually think about in the pauses between their sentences? And how does she avoid filling the silence with babbling?
To release her word power, she starts writing new lyrics to well-known songs from the Højskole songbook, she becomes the manager of the local newspaper's letterboxSince it is almost impossible to live in West Jutland without a car, she starts to get a driver's license, but manages to drive three driving instructors crazy before she gets it.
Both Stine Pilgaard's critically acclaimed novel and the subsequent film adaptation were a huge success. In Folketeatret's version, everyone is invited to a musically compressed high school stay in VellingThere will be singing both for and with the audience, who will meet Pilgaard's many Velling residents - from the wild hotel owner Krisser, to the patient driving instructor, parking Peter, to her sweet boyfriend, the poet Rasmus.
The performance is created in collaboration with Aalborg Theater.
