Learn to sing wordless improvisational songs/scat. What do Louis Armstrong - Kaj the Frog (from Kaj og Andrea) - Richard Boone - Kim Larsen - Kermit from the Muppet Show and Dizzy Gillespie have in common?!? They all love to "scat".
Louis Armstrong invented scat singing in 1926 when he recorded the song "Heebies Jeebies". Armstrong later developed this new style and way of singing and improvising, greatly inspiring other singers including Martin Roy Wade
We scatter/sing improvise with different sounds and timbres created by vowel and consonant combinations that we partly make up ourselves and partly get examples of. We use various well-known melodies and songs as a starting pointWe work with imitation, rhythm, rhythmics, pulse, melody, harmony and form.
All singers of all levels are welcome
Martin Roy Wade is one of the absolute best scat singers/improvisation singers of his generation. He has been trained by, among others, Richard Boone, Rosa Passos, Bob Stoloff, Desmond Appiah-Boateng, Leif Falk and Lars Storck.Listen to Autumn Leaves on the following recording:
