This session will introduce you to the large group of chemicals called per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS). PFAS possess various desirable properties and are widely used in consumer products.

They are persistent and do not degrade easily, consequently accumulating in our environment and bodies

Exposure to PFAS has been associated with several adverse health outcomes, and scientific investigations are global and ongoing.

In this talk, local examples based on data collected in the Odense Child Cohort-a relatively low-exposed population-and examples from highly exposed populations, will be presented. Finally, you will have the opportunity to test your knowledge about PFAS and express your concerns in an open discussion.

Iben Have Beck did her PhD in Prenatal and early life PFAS exposure. She works as a researcher at the Department of Public Health Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine at the University of Southern Denmark.
