Toftemark/Norman Quartet

Saxofonisten Andreas Toftemark og trommeslageren Emil Norman har samlet et band til dette års jazzfestival. Begge musikere har studeret i New York og spiller til daglig i et utal af bands og konstellationer.

Denne aften har slået sig sammen til en uforglemmelig musikalsk aften på Tir Na Nog. Andreas Toftemark: Andreas Toftemark is a 32-year-old saxophonist and composer who currently lives in Copenhagen. For 4 years Andreas lived and performed regularly on the New York jazz scene, he has been on tour in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Spain, and performed at venues such as The Bimhuis in Amsterdam, La Fontaine, Paradise jazz Club Copenhagen, The Hat Bar in Berlin and Unity Jazz Club in Sweden, both as a sideman and bandleader. You can listen to Andreas Toftemark's debut album - A New York Flight- on all digital platforms. The Album consists of a mix of original tunes and arrangements of American songs. The band features some of the most talented young Copenhagen-based musicians. Education; Andreas has a degree from The New School of Jazz in New York where he studied with accomplished musicians such as Joel Frahm, Eric Alexander, Ben Wendel, Marc Mommas and Sam Yahel amongst others. Before that, Andreas studied at Conservatorium van Amsterdam which is recognized as one of the most prominent jazz conservatories in Europe. Furthermore, Andreas has performed with great musicians such as Michael Valeanu, Paul Sikivie, Ethan Iverson, Josh Allen, Ethan Iverson, Pat Brennan, Myles Sloniker, Robbie Lee, Peter Bernstein to name a few. Sound; Andreas' sound is intense but round and clearly reflects the many years he has spent listening to the masters of jazz such as Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Lester Young, Barry Harris, Chet Baker amongst others. Although Andreas' style reflects traditional jazz, he has been exploring many genres and has played everything from traditional jazz to bebop, hardbop, Afro-Cuban, folk music, and contemporary Jazz. Andreas doubles on alto-saxophone and Clarinet.Emil Norman: Emil Norman (b. 1992) is a jazz drummer born in Århus, Denmark. He started playing drums when he was 8, and he fell in love with jazz music in his early teens. Emil has a Bachelor's degree from The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, and he continued his studies in New York at Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with the likes of John Riley, Kendrick Scott, Marc Carey and many more. Emil has played concerts in Scandinavia, Germany, Poland, Iceland, Czech Republic, Turkey, China and USA. Emil currently lives in Oslo, Norway.
