Hertug Hans Festival - historical celebration for the whole family

Meet skilled musicians, jugglers, and craftsmen who bring history to life at the largest historical family event in Southern Jutland in Damparken in Haderslev

Virelai and Pøbel set the stage for merry dance, Master Peder and the Fire Juggler entertain, and Morten Musicus and Princess Ina from Terra Magica dance and recount naughty and humorous tales from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance

This is just a small selection of the activities awaiting you when the Hertug Hans Festival Association opens this year's festival, as tradition dictates, in the beautiful Damparken of Haderslev.

Here you can encounter the world's largest dogs, genuine birds of prey, battling knights, and merry musketeers.

You can also meet families vacationing in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, living, eating, and sleeping as they did at that time.

If you're up for some play, there are hobby horses and other historical play opportunities.

You can also meet the dancing children from the Experimental Stage Haderslev or the magical puppets from the South Jutland Puppet Theater. And of course, you can also meet both Duke Hans, Queen Dorothea, and many other historical figures from Haderslev's exciting past.

The Hertug Hans Festival is living history storytelling for young and old.

Come as you are or join in the fun and dress up as a knight or princess.

Everyone is welcome.

In 2023, the Hertug Hans Festival had between 20,000 and 25,000 visitors over the festival's three days
